In December, Broward College participated in the 44th Annual Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade. Dubbed the “Greatest Show on H20”, with over 1,000,000 live viewers, and 8,000,000 in TV land, the Parade begins along the New River, travels east to the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale and north to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. The boat parade is one of the top 20 parades in the world, the seventh largest one-day spectator event in the United States, and Florida’s largest one-day spectator event.
Broward College’s very own Environmental Science program took this opportunity to enter the Winterfest Parade in order to help raise money for their new BSES scholarship fund. They were able to raffle off seats on the boat where 5 winners were selected at random and allowed to bring 1 guest on board to ride in the Parade.
At the annual Captain’s Cup celebration held on February 25, parade participants and sponsors were honored for their efforts toward the 2015 parade. Broward College aboard Sea Ark and Broward College aboard Whaler walked away with most points, winning Best in Lights in the Pre-Show category. Congratulations for representing Broward College at this important community event!
