Unsung Heroes Recognized by College Leadership

March 18, 2015 | More People

Each month President J. David Armstrong’s leadership team recognize individuals who have done an outstanding job to support student success. The “Unsung Hero” award recognition is announced during the President’s management team meeting.

The recipients of this award demonstrate creativity, adaptability, commitment and initiative in their efforts to enhance positive experiences for our students. They have shown significant effort devoted to enhancing the quality of the students’ learning experience through strategies that affect learning and creativity in their instructional or support approaches. This month’s honorees include Celia Roberts and Angela Rodriguez-Soto.

Celia Roberts is a dedicated student advocate.  She is passionate about making learning interesting and fun for all students, with her use of foreign films, STEM center activities and individualized tutoring.

Shortly after moving to the U.S. from Lima, Peru, Angela Rodriguez-Soto enrolled at Broward College in the EAP program, which she successfully completed and continued to study at Broward to earn her Associate’s degree in International Business. She then completed a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management at Florida International University, while she worked part-time for the English and ESL departments at South Campus. As a result of Angela’s positive energy and very helpful nature, she was hired as fulltime Administrative Assistant in the English department.
