Sheila Jones Appointed Interim District Director of the Honors Institute

Sheila Jones, Ph.D. was appointed interim District Director of the Honors Institute.  Dr. Jones brings a strong background in Honors including as Past President of the Florida Collegiate Honors Council with statewide responsibilities.  Dr. Jones has been an Honors faculty member as well as the Honors Coordinator on Central Campus.  Although she has had many responsibilities over the past 6 years at Broward, her passion is Honors.

Dr. Jones earned her Ph.D. in History at Bowling Green State University (Ohio) in 2008 and began teaching at our Central campus that same year.  Since her arrival to Broward College, Dr. Jones has been involved in a number of initiatives and endeavors at the College including the General Education Task Force, headed by Dr. Patrick Ellingham, the General Education Outcomes and Assessment Team (GEOAT), Faculty Senator, and the QEP Critical Thinking Writing Group, among many others.  Dr. Jones is an Endowed Teaching Chair recipient (2012) and is a current member of the President’s Leadership Academy.
