Eight Faculty Members Named Endowed Teaching Chairs for 2015
Eight outstanding educators representing the subjects of mathematics, chemistry, English, physical education/wellness, and music were named recipients of Endowed Teaching Chairs on April 16.
This marks the 24th year that the college has provided endowed teaching chairs to its outstanding educators. The program awards the recipients a stipend of $10,000 over one year to provide for the professor’s professional development and projects to improve classroom excellence and efficiency.
The 2015 recipients are:
Andrea Apa, recipient of the Jan R. Cummings Endowed Teaching Chair in Critical Thinking. Apa teaches English for Academic Purposes at South Campus.
Dr. Mitzi Fulwood, recipient of the Gene A. Whiddon Endowed Teaching Chair. Fulwood, a two-time recipient, teaches mathematics at North Campus.
Ana Gonzalez, recipient of the Motorola, Inc. Endowed Teaching Chair. Gonzalez is an assistant professor of physical education and wellness and is a wellness manager at Central Campus.
Dr. Laura Iossi, recipient of the Donald Goldsmith Faculty Development and Technology Endowed Teaching Chair, teaches mathematics on Central Campus.
Dr. Behnoush Memari, recipient of the A. Hugh Adams Endowed Teaching Chair, is a two-time recipient. She teaches chemistry at Central Campus.
Victoria Noorzai, recipient of the Second Generation Community Leaders Endowed Teaching Chair, teaches English for Academic Purposes at North Campus.
Dr. David Perdian, recipient of the first Dr. Barbara J. Bryan Endowed Teaching Chair, is a chemistry professor at the North Campus.
Dr. Jure Rozman, recipient of the Rotary Clubs Endowed Teaching Chair, teaches music at Central Campus.
