Broward College, in partnership with the Broward and Palm Beach Area Refugee Task Force, will host a World Refugee Day event on Tuesday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Broward College’s North Campus, 1000 Coconut Creek Blvd., Building 60. The event will include a private naturalization ceremony and award service honoring South Florida’s refugees by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services for participants and their families, followed by a free family fun fair at 10:30 a.m. that is open to the public, showcasing services available to the community, free games, raffles, arts and crafts stations, music and entertainment.

World Refugee Day is a global event launched by the United Nations in 2001 to recognize the challenges faced by approximately 42.5 million refugees, internally displaced and stateless people around the world. The day is an opportunity to honor the courage, strength and determination of women, men and children who are forced to flee their homes under threat of persecution, conflict and violence.
